Call for Proposals

SeSo, Inc. is seeking guest speakers for our 2020 Skill-Building Live Webinar Series for Medical and Educational Interpreters.  We invite proposals from participants who have attended a SeSo, Inc. workshop or course, either online or in a classroom setting, and interpreters who are currently working in a school or healthcare setting.


Important Dates:

Proposals are due no later than December 6th, 2019

Upon review, notification and final confirmation will be sent by January 6, 2020


We encourage you to submit your proposal early!



Your proposal should include a brief abstract (maximum 300 words) of your presentation and a short biographical paragraph (maximum 200 words).  Please submit via email to by December 6th, 2019.



Proposed topics include (but are not limited to):


Dual roles and conflicts in the school setting
Useful medical terminology for educational interpreters
 Ethical dilemmas in medical and/or educational interpreting
Sight translation for medical and/or educational interpreters
The role of culture in medical and/or educational interpreting
Benefits and challenges of being a contract and/or staff interpreter
Tips to improve simultaneous interpretation in medical and/or educational settings
Medical and/or educational interpreter self-care


Please Note: 

  • Your submission is not a guarantee that your proposal will be accepted.
  • Proposals that appear to focus on selling products or services will be rejected.
  • Proposals submitted after the deadline may be considered for selection, but preference will be given to those proposals received on time.
  • An honorarium will be offered to guest speakers whose proposal is accepted.
  • If accepted, you are making the commitment to prepare your presentation to the best of your ability and the quality expected, and will meet all deadlines required.
  • Guest speakers must be available at least 30 minutes before the start of the live webinar and must have a reliable computer, speakers and webcam available to present remotely.
